Construction and project management is the name of the game for locally owned and operated Onus Construction Management Ltd.
Company directors and owners Peter Chisholm and Colin Anderson have more than 70 years combined construction industry experience between them, and being hands-on, they put it to good use. “We pride ourselves in being totally client focussed,” explains Peter. “We’re there to make it easier for the client.”
Last year at the New Zealand Institute of Building Awards in Auckland, Peter won the Excellence Award for Innovation, and received a highly commended award in the $10 million to $25m category for his work on Te Aro Hihiko College of Creative Arts at MasseyUniversity’s Wellington campus. The awards recognise individual building excellence rather than company performance. “It was a huge honour to have won these awards from a field full of many other talented professionals,” he says. In 2006 he was a finalist in the 2006 awards for his work on the redevelopment of DunedinInternationalAirport.
When it comes to keeping up with GST, taxation and the end of year accounts, Peter and Colin turn to the team at Alison Blanchett Smart Business Centre Accountants to make it easier on themselves.
“Alison’s team handles all our taxation on a monthly and an annual basis,’ She’s also our landlord so it works well; we can just pop downstairs if we need to.”
Selecting Alison Blanchett Smart Business Centre Accountants to look after their business was an obvious choice, says Peter. “We’ve been with Alison’s team since we started Onus Construction management in September 2012, but prior to that we also used Alison and her team when the company was in a different format, so we knew the expertise that we were getting.”
