Starting his business from scratch 8 years ago, Plasta Master owner Shane Waterhouse turned to Alison Blanchett and her team when he was’thrown in at the deep end’. While Shane knew a lot about interior plastering, when it came to business he was a raw beginner.’I didn’t even know I needed an accountant,’ he explains. Having worked for someone else for several years, Shane decided it was time to branch out on his own.’How hard can it be, I thought, and eight years later I’m still learning.
‘I heard about Alison from a lot of people, who all highly recommended her. I was lucky that I started with her when I ?rst set up the company so I have had help all the way along.’ Getting the business up and running would have been almost impossible without help from a number of different quarters, says Shane, including accounting and ?nancial advice. Shane started using Xero accounting software and has now started to really turn his business around by focussing on his business.
